From our living room to yours, Work Out πŸ’š Give Back is back in full effect. Our first event takes place on Sunday 11/22 from 9:00 a.m. – 10:15 a.m. The purpose is multifaceted.

Join us to…

1) Connect as a community in this strange, strange time. We need each other!
2) Honor the late RBG who made valiant efforts for human rights during her lifetime.
3) Raise money and awareness for Mudbone Grown – a Black-owned nonprofit farm providing fresh produce to BIPOC communities in Portland. As a community we have a chance to come together to support racial justice efforts in Portland. The time is now to elevate and support Black organizations and honestly acknowledge the history of policies and practices that have been so detrimental to equity in our country and community.

What you need to know

Jeremy, Lee, Julie Hamilton and Brian O’Neill will be leading a workout in tribute to the late justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The workout will be divided into 10 minute segments, each featuring one of RBG’s hallmark moves from her personal trainer.

RBG started working with her trainer in her recovery from colorectal cancer in 1999. When she battled back from pancreatic cancer in 2009 her trainer Bryant upped his game and started incorporating the planks and push ups she’s so famous for.

TIMING: We’ll open the zoom link at 8:45 to ensure a prompt 9 a.m. start. Join us early to test your tech and say hi! After a brief intro from Lee and Jeremy, Mudbone Grown will share their work with us before we get started moving and shaking.

MUSIC: Spotify playlist Harper Hamilton volunteered her time to create an EMPOWERING playlist for your listening pleasure featuring iconic Black artists with a slant to women’s empowerment (Thanks RBG!). It’s awesome! Please enjoy! From technical perspective we recommend you download the playlist to your own device and listen during the workout. This will provide for better sound quality than if we played it through zoom.

If you are new to Spotify, we recommend downloading a free version of their software to your phone prior to downloading the playlist from this link.

COLLAR: Sport your spirit if you dare! We’ll have a best collar contest to keep the fun pumping along with the tunes from your living room!

BENEFICIARY: Mudbone Grown

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the deep inequities Black Oregonians have experienced for generations. In response to the harm done by racism and the oppression of Black people, Mudbone Grown has created Solidarity Love Shares for Black Families that provides healthy and fresh food to Black families who need it. Since the start of June they were able to feed over 200 families and grow over 2,500 pounds of food, plus supplies additional pantry staples and house hold items. As we move into winter they still plan for their COVID response.

Your support helps Mudbone to:

-Employ and maintain Black farmers for the growing season and off-season at a living wage ($20 an hour).

-Deliver food boxes of vegetables, herbs and fruit to dozens of families.

-Develop and train another generation of Black farmers.

-Develop a greenhouse management program for justice impacted youth

-Build up staffing off the farm to help manage what happens on the farm

We request a $25 donation to Mudbone Grown made through the Willamette Week’s Give!Guide – note Hyatt Training in the “in honor” of box so we can keep track of our community’s total impact. Mudbone Grown Donation Link

Friends and family welcome, membership is not required!

BIG THANKS to the event planning committee! Debbie Hill, Regina Hauser, Reed Adamson, and Julie Hamilton πŸ’š
