When you share a habit with somebody, it’s amazing what you can achieve. The Heffernans have been putting in sweat equity together for over a year and are the most committed and consistent (together) that they have ever been with their fitness. Lisa is running like the wind with her fastest mile times yet, and Ryan has dropped 35 pounds since this January! We love being a part of this power couple’s journey.

Name: Ryan and Lisa Heffernan

Age: Ryan is 30, Lisa is 29.

Length of time with Hyatt Training and date when you started: Lisa started in December of 2016, Ryan joined the fun in August of 2017.

What were your goals when you started?
Lisa: I wanted to get in shape for our upcoming wedding and lose weight.
Ryan: I wanted to have a more holistic, full-body fitness regimen. Before joining Hyatt Training my main workouts consisted of only the stair-stepper and elliptical.

What are your goals today? We want to continue to live a healthier lifestyle and lose some weight along the way. We love having a shared activity that we enjoy doing together.

What has been your biggest challenge? It took us awhile to realize that nutrition and fitness went hand in hand. Once we made changes to our overall diet, we were able to see the results from our efforts and hard work at the gym.

What have been your biggest areas of improvement?
Lisa: I am so much stronger now than when I first joined Hyatt Training. I had never done strength training before so it was all new to me.
Ryan: My overall flexibility has improved dramatically and I have been able to tone muscle without bulking up.

What is your favorite thing about Hyatt Training? Everyone at Hyatt Training is so friendly and helpful. I am never afraid to ask a questions about workouts or equipment. I enjoy going to the gym and being around the positive atmosphere.

What is your favorite thing about your personal trainer? Hayden is always so positive and encouraging. You can tell he really cares about your goals and is active in helping you get to where you want to be. The time he puts in to creating new workout plans that are tailored just for us is awesome. He is also just really fun to be around!

What is your proudest achievement or biggest accomplishment since you began working with Hyatt Training:
Lisa: When I first started I was not able to complete the Hour of Power chalk board workout (HOP). Now Ryan and I have worked them into our weekly routines and love the new challenge. Also as my overall fitness has improved I have been able to run a 5k and work more cardio into my workouts.
Ryan: Completing the HOPx10 Challenge to start the year has been my best accomplishment. I didn’t think I had the ability to complete them when I started but I have gained confidence and fitness ability after completing each week. I am also proud of building consistent exercise into my daily life where before working out at Hyatt Training I was more sporadic in workout frequency.

What have you learned: We have gained a lot more confidence in ourselves and have learned the skills we need to live a healthier lifestyles, together.

What advice would you give to other people starting on their fitness journey?
Lisa: Don’t wait to get started. Hyatt Training is so welcoming and will help you through whatever fitness goals you may have.
Ryan: Listen to your trainer. They have a lot of tips (big and small) that can be very impactful and helpful.
