About me

I have been a teacher for the last 10 years—first teaching philosophy then ESL then nutrition and exercise. In addition to classrooms, I’ve been an educator in gyms, clinics and community spaces. I’ve always loved training and nutrition and found myself reading about both subjects in my free time. Personal training allows me to take my passion for health and exercise and combine it with my skills and experience from teaching.

My ideal client is one that has a genuine interest in learning how to take care of themselves. I want to empower people, not just train them. Not everyone is the same, and there is no-one-size-fits-all approach to fitness. I help clients by teaching them what works best for them as an individual. My attention to detail and ability to teach make this process effective and efficient.

Specialties

My specialties include strength training, endurance training, injury prevention, muscle gain, weight loss, sports-specific training and, of course, nutrition.

Philosophy

Train smart, and train towards your goal. If it doesn’t help accomplish your goal, then get rid of it. It’s hard work sticking to a program that gets results. There are no shortcuts. Have a plan, stick to the plan.

Outside the gym

I was born and raised in Sacramento but have lived in San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Tokyo. These days I currently live in the Mt. Tabor area of southeast Portland. For me, being outside is what it’s all about—hiking, fishing, camping, gardening, getting dirty … That’s the life!
