Throughout the process of creating our dream space for Hyatt Training we’ve relied heavily on the talent and expertise of many. One of our favorite parts has been the new people and companies we’ve met or gotten to know along the way. Here’s a sample of some of the key players we are so grateful for…

Nels Gabbert & Eileen Trudeau, Lindley & Corrine Morton, and Rich & Kristen Ford are the owners of the Fitzgibbons Glass Building. They have been friends for the better part of two decades. Their support of our move into their building has been truly overwhelming. Right down to the part where they allowed us to drill up their concrete floors and create two locker rooms.

Owen Gabbert, Angie Golleher and Travis Henry Our general contractor team made our vision come to life. While many commercial projects may have hands off employees overseeing the day to day work of the project, our team got used to us being hands on really quickly. And they tolerated our questions, enthusiasm and ideas with grace. They handled all the subcontractors who worked on our project, permits, and odds and ends. The space reflects their attention to detail which surpasses even our attention to detail. Turns out, they also serve the roll of guardian angels as needed.

Kristopher Celtnieks Our architect’s primary work on the project happened many months ago. But as it has come to life and taken shape, we are thankful for his vision and wisdom to draw up efficient, functional space that looks and feels good to be in. He also got our permits approved in a speedy manner that no one anticipated. He is a gem.

Tippi Thole Tippi and her company Bright Spot Studio have been a long-time and integral part of the design, website, marketing and social media presence of Hyatt Training. We feel like some of her best work yet is the creativity she used to bring our brand to life in the new space! While she operates out of Montreal Canada, her vision for the Hyatt Training brand touched every part of the new studio.

The moving crew of trainers You can have the best plans and gym in the world, but if you can’t get your equipment moved from one location to the next, it’s all for nothing. This crew was THE reason we got up and running in the course of two days. At about 10:45 on Saturday morning we were certain that we were all UNcertain that things would come together. We can’t thank them enough for their hard work, sweat and dedication.

Amanda Meyer It’s amazing the good ideas that come up on runs in the woods with a good friend. Amanda inspired design ideas, had resources, experience and moral support through the entire process. We are grateful for all she’s contributed to the studio and this end result. She helped with detailed last minute painting projects and of course moving day.

Tom and Linda Carson Lovers of a good project, Lee’s parents not only spend time with Max and Gigi while we work (and Lee took on a larger role managing the build out), but they’ve also helped with the finish carpentry such as the bathroom shelving and most notably the beautiful front desk. They are our behind the scenes cheerleaders in everything we do.

Nicole Wilson and Jana Moore Sometimes, you know a good thing when you see it. And you ask about a million questions about someone’s space, how they did it, where they bought things, etc. That is the case with Jana and Nicole at Common Health and we are thankful for their patience and wisdom, and a rocking space to be inspired by.

Krueger’s Supply Upcycled lockers anyone? With the vision for Hyatt Training green lockers firmly in our heads, we found just what we needed at Krueger’s Supply in Southeast Portland. It is a gem of a place. We also worked with them to create the rolling tables in the break room and on the training floor.

ColorCord.com Inspired by Amanda Meyer, we went in search of pendant light cords that were Hyatt Training green. The first phone call to Helen at ColorCord after a quick google search told us we were in the right place. The pendant lights in the space were ultimately inspired by ideas of Amanda, Tippi and Lee. Lee’s dad turned and created the custom hemlock socket covers. We love that such a labor of love will light the way for the coming years at the studio.

MarketCraft Inspired by the signage at the Slabtown New Seasons, we connected with creators MarketCraft based out of Tualatin. They took Tippi’s vision and brought it to life with premium materials and expert craftsmanship. While they work with fancy design agencies all around the world, they took our little project just as seriously. We couldn’t be happier with their results.

Foundation Fitness is a local resource for purchasing fitness equipment and we were happy to be able to work locally to find the new pieces we wanted to feature in the studio.

Diakadi Billy and the whole team at Diakadi in San Francisco has been an inspiring force behind what we decided to create at Hyatt Training. To have one of the smartest business guys you know also be two of the nicest guys you know, well, that says something. Diakadi is 10 years ahead of us as a personal training studio, but Billy is so open and willing to share ideas, resources and best practices. They have been a compass for how to treat staff and trainers, how to lay out spaces and how to be passionate about every little thing you do.

The Dream Team Brass tax, we love the Hyatt training personal trainers so much and believe so strongly in what they do, we knew we had to build this studio for them. We’re honored to work along side them every day and appreciate all their patience, ideas and pitching in to get us up and running in a brand new space.

All the clients, friends and family who’ve listened patiently as we’ve charted the course to opening day. It’s been a multi-year process and that equals a lot of conversations, love and guidance along the way.

Max and Gigi Last but most certainly not least, our kids have been such troopers as dinner conversations steered to build out questions, and extra time was spent making sure every detail was just right. While they have been incredibly patient with us through the process, we hope they have also learned first hand the importance of finding something you’re passionate about and going all in. We do this all for them.

Our hearts are full and we are grateful beyond words,
Lee and Jeremy
