Community is everything

Have you had a chance to listen to Michelle Obama’s new podcast on Spotify? Her first episode is with President Obama. It’s all about the importance of community and it struck a chord with us. […]

Smart Training, Strong Community

Hyatt Training turns 9 next month, and there are many little carefully considered elements that play into our members’ experience with our business. Each one of those little things ties back to our core values as a business and, personally, as leaders of Hyatt Training. […]

We get by with a little help from our friends

As trainers, we live to share information on exercise, nutrition, stress management, sleep, meditation, breathing, exercise some more, nutrition a lot more and on and on. BUT, what good does all that do for us if we don’t have a plan to put it together? Sure we know what we should probably eat, when we likely should go to bed. Implementing those activities in a way that is sustainable is the key, and the trick, to all of it. […]

July at Hyatt Training – heading towards normal

Being closed for 98 consecutive days was the hardest thing Hyatt Training has ever gone through. During the past 4 months we’ve lost 6 trainers to lifestyle changes and our community has been blown apart by any number of disruptions. Waiting has been so hard. But it’s here. Finally. The path towards recovery, normalcy. Being open is amazing. No matter the limited number of sessions, the masks, the cleaning schedules, we are OPEN! We are on the path forward and back to normal. […]

Proactive vs. Reactive

Two weeks has turned into 3 months with no signs of the finish line. The luckiest of us have been able to coax ourselves into a structure of physical routines that support our health. We’re eating, sleeping, moving our bodies. These are all good things. […]

Everything you need to know about coming back to Hyatt Training

The reality of “normal life” has shifted for now. Step 1 in our new normal at Hyatt Training is the reopening of our common gathering space. The next steps are taking shape as we look to ways to keep our community close-knit while maintaining a vibrant and healthy space. We can’t wait to share the details that we’ve got in store. […]

Navigating new normals

Three months ago life as we knew it changed. We (collectively) took the necessary precautions and dramatically altered our routines and daily life. It was no easy task to develop new routines, stress management and structure, but we did it. […]

Hyatt Training family manifesto

The words we shared with our members last Thanksgiving ring more true today than ever. They’ve been echoing in our heads as we’ve been preparing to reopen in the wake of our 3 month COVID closure, and reconnect with our big, little studio family. Today, we choose to establish this as an on-going studio manifesto. […]

Member Advisory Team

As we move closer to reopening the studio, we wanted to share some of the things we have been doing to be prepared, in fact – over-prepared, for your safe and comfortable return to the studio. In addition to following all of the national, state and local guidelines we have formed a Member Advisory Team to help guide our decisions now and into the future. […]

Hydration in practice

The importance of hydration is something I have always struggled with as a trainer, and it’s something that certainly not everyone agrees on 100%. I have, admittedly, been all over the board from drinking tons of water to not really worrying about it at all. It is something, however, that has seemed to make a dramatic impact on physical health for me over the past 6 months, so as we lean into the conversation of hydration this week I invite you to be open minded, to try some new strategies and to find out where your optimal level lies. […]

Nutrition guidelines to live by

As we dig into the topic of good nutrition this week, it’s important to remember that we are looking at how what you eat relates to all the elements of your health, not just performance in the gym or how your jeans fit. Good nutrition can positively affect your mood and energy, lower risk of disease, improve sleep quantity and quality, and make you feel and look your best. But it’s different for everyone and as we go down the winding road of good nutrition it’s important to remember some things. […]

Walk the walk

In normal life, one of my very favorite parts of each day is walking the kids to school. Both the time spent with them, grounding, preparing, anticipating. And also the walk home by myself, savoring “the space”. The unfilled space, where I think, create, process. Along the way we see neighbors and schoolmates. Are greeted by our crossing-guard-turned-friend. […]

Ease stress with structure

Aside from awareness of micro-stressors and modifying them appropriately to account for our daily dose of inherent stress, one of the biggest stress management tools I’ve been using lately is to create as much structure for myself as possible. Here are some of the things that have been helpful for me in these weird days of COVID-19. […]
