Recently, we had our good friends at Element Wellness and Rehabilitation join us for our monthly trainer Mastermind session. Hayden and Noah presented a specialized form of movement screening designed specifically for rotational athletes—which, for our community, primarily means golfers, tennis players, and pickleball enthusiasts.

In last week’s newsletter, we discussed building capacity for summer activities. However, it’s vital to remember that building strength on top of dysfunction can lead to negative results very quickly.

Understanding Dysfunction

Dysfunction doesn’t mean you are “broken” or that you should stop participating in the sports you love. Instead, think of it as a dashboard warning light. It indicates that there are specific needs regarding strength, flexibility, mobility, or coordination that require attention.

By using movement screens as the foundation for exercise prescription, we transition from “general fitness” to a highly individualized approach. This strategy highlights exactly what will make the biggest difference in your performance and injury prevention.

What’s Next at the Studio

As Hyatt Strength + Wellness continues to evolve, you can expect to see these screenings take center stage:

  • Clinic Days: Our partners from Element Wellness will be back soon! We are currently scheduling “clinic” days to provide professional screenings for interested members.

  • Advanced Education: Our trainers are continuing to dive deep into sport-specific movement patterns to ensure you are functioning at your absolute highest level.

  • Motion Capture Technology: We are investing in new technology, including motion capture tools, to remove the guesswork from your training. This allows us to identify with scientific precision what is working and what needs more attention.

At Hyatt Strength + Wellness, we blend art and science to create programs applicable to your life and sport. Whether you’re hitting the links or the courts this summer, we’re here to ensure your body is ready for the challenge.
