As we look back at 2025 in the world of strength and wellness, a few things really jump out.
Lean muscle mass made a huge splash. The discussion around being strong (rather than thin) feels like it has cemented itself into our gym lexicon. Closely in second was protein. Obviously related here and we saw protein being added to everything from water to whipped cream. You need to be strong, you probably don’t need protein whipped cream – just my opinion. And fiber really hit the scene as a critical supplement for overall health. Yes, it’s in vegetables but veggies alone likely aren’t enough.
Looking ahead to 2026, here’s a few predictions for where this industry is going to focus.
- GLPs. They had a huge moment in 2025 and that’s going to get even bigger. With costs coming down, the advent of microdosing and no long term studies showing real harm I see GLPs continuing to become a very widespread tool for weight management, addiction treatment and helping to curb our overwhelming metabolic health epidemic. And we are routinely seeing that GLPs combined with good strength training is a life changer.
- Community. You’re going to see this word everywhere. Every gym, online group, etc is going to use it, and for good reason. We’ve exited the pandemic into the world of AI and people, I think, feel more separated than ever. Couple that with the ease of distraction online from scrolling to actual artificial conversations and there are an awful lot of us that want to be around people, real people, again. Community promotes a sense of safety, connection and purpose. Humans were meant for that and finding them around healthy activities is going to be a huge win.
- Wearables / Blood Work / AI. The amount of data collected from Apple, OURA, Whoop, etc. and the accuracy of that data continues to climb at exponential rates. Wearable companies like OURA and Garmin are seeing huge valuations and coming in behind them are a ton of online blood testing options (we’re excited about the performance-focused offering from Vitality!). When you take the information collected from these sources and plug it into AI, you get health perspectives that you simply can’t / won’t get from your general doctor’s visit. People are starving for better information, a more holistic view point, and tools to create better health for themselves and western medicine has largely failed here. Look for the wearable / digital / AI field to really take off here and compliment the great work that functional practitioners have been doing for years.
